Blow Mold Wiki

Grand Venture was a blow molding company that was in business from 1996 to 2005. Headquartered in Washington, Pennsylvania, they specialized in blow mold figures and other plastic decorations for the yard.

History[]

Grand Venture was founded in Washington Pennsylvania in August 1996 by Gary Anton. They created many blow molds for such holidays as Christmas, Halloween and Easter as well as numerous yard figures and decorations. In 2003 they acquired the molds and other assets from Sun Hill Industries. They also possessed a few molds by MAC Plastics whom produced molds for both Sun Hill and TPI, whom went defunct in 2004. Grand Venture's prime was in 1999, when most of their Christmas molds were created.

Despite their '90s success, the Grand Venture company was quite short lived as they closed their doors in 2005, after just 10 years in business, making them one of the shortest lived but popular blow mold companies.

In 2008, Prime Plastics purchased and produced a number of the Grand Venture molds. It is currently unknown how long they produced the molds for or in what quantities, however the owner George Retos was ultimately convicted of fraud in 2018.

In 2016, Cado Products began producing a few of the blow molds that they acquired from the remaining Grand Venture assets. These include the Nativity Set (Grand Venture), Ghost with Pumpkins, Pumpkin Stack, and the Boo Ghost. It is known that Cado has the entire nativity set however they have yet to produce anything else besides the Mary and Joseph.

In 2017, online Christmas decorations retailer ChristmasLightsCreations announced that they had purchased 3 Grand Venture molds; the Climbing Santa, Snowman with Scarf, and Smiling Pumpkin, arguably the most iconic of the Grand Venture blow molds. The Santa and snowman were made available that year, with different color variants made in 2019, however the pumpkin has yet to see creation as of now.
