Blow Mold Wiki

Poloron Products was an American company founded in 1938.

History[]

Poloron Products was founded in 1938. It wouldn’t be until the 1960’s that they started producing holiday decorations, first only in their trademark “Vacucel” (Styrofoam) material and metal. By the mid 1960’s Poloron began creating blow mold holiday figures. In 1969 they started producing mechanical blow molds such as the Giant Animated Santa and Snowman.

Poloron ceased production of their blow molds in June of 1979 and focused their business on producing modular homes. In 1981 the company filed for bankruptcy and subsequently went out of business in 1982.

After going out of business in 1982, Empire Plastics purchased the full medium sized nativity set from Poloron and began producing select pieces of it that same year for their own nativity. These pieces included the Nativity Camel and Wisemen Set.

In 1988, Holiday Innovations purchased the remaining molds from Poloron and began producing them themselves until their own demise in 1991.

In 1992 Empire Plastics purchased the molds from Holiday Innovations and produced many of them until going out of business, afterwards selling them to General Foam Plastics.
